The history of one of britains most famous fighting ships the first ark royal was commissioned by sir walter raleigh in the 16th century, and it is still used as a present day aircraft carrier, and has played a huge role in defending britain.  this dvd contains rare film of the second ark royal during the ww1 in action, and the experiments conducted during ww2 to catapult launched aircraft, including the walrus and hurricane. After some improvements, it became a valuable fighting platform to launch a variety of aircraft, which we see in action.  the present day ark royal is also filmed in a dramatic behind the scenes look at how she is used in recent times, from backing up the un forces in bosnia to 2003s gulf war.  dramatic footage is combined with interviews with crew members past and present, giving a fascinating look at this famous ship.
